Speaker Basket Replacement Made Easy!

Start by removing the screws securing the magnet to the basket. These are usually located on the back of the magnet assembly. Keep all the screws in one place so you can find them easily.

Carefully lift off the magnet assembly. Clean and inspect the voice coil gap. Remove all foreign material and make sure it is uniform in shape. This is very important because if your voice coil blew up, there was probably some debris left behind.

Gently and slowly lower the magnet back onto the new basket, making sure that the voice coil slides into the gap without being damaged. Look through the screw holes and align to the holes in the basket. Everything should fit perfectly; if not, start over. Don't force anything!

Re-install the screws. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN. Too much torque can warp the basket and damage the speaker. Slowly tighten each screw a little bit, then go to the next one and tighten it, working your way around the speaker magnet until all are snug.

Sweep test the speaker (generate a wide range of frequencies through it). Check for proper alignment and movement. Listen for buzzes or rattles as this is a sign of incorrect installation or other damage.
